Recently, Petro Home Services team members on Long Island partnered with the American Red Cross to install 400 life-saving smoke alarms, helping to make over 120 homes safer from the risk of fire. This was part of the SOUND THE ALARM program, which is a series of home fire safety and smoke alarm installation events across the country hosted by the American Red Cross. Together with fire departments and other community partners, the American Red Cross team and other community volunteers canvass at-risk neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms and provide fire prevention and safety education.
Every day, seven people die in home fires, most in homes that lack working smoke alarms. Sadly, children and the elderly disproportionately lose their lives. Through the SOUND THE ALARM program, the American Red Cross is improving those odds and saving lives around the country. The Petro Home Services team was delighted to partner with the American Red Cross and help with this important community initiative.
